This insight reflects a growing trend that balances both the perks and hurdles of entrepreneurial pursuits.

### Benefits of Being an Independent Business Owner

According to the findings from HoneyBook, a significant portion of traditionally employed adults (51%) have considered transitioning to self-employment, and about 44% of these individuals entertained this idea within the last year. There are several compelling reasons for this shift:

- **Enhanced Flexibility and Control**: 68% of those surveyed believe they could earn more as self-employed individuals than in their current roles. Furthermore, 66% anticipate an improved quality of life. Independent entrepreneurs typically report working fewer hours, allowing 87% of them to spend more time with loved ones—a testament to the better work-life balance achievable.

- **Personal and Professional Growth**: Independent business owners enjoy numerous benefits, including:

  - Flexible work schedules (64%)

  - Increased earning potential (60%)

  - Pursuit of personal passion and talents (57%)

### Challenges Facing Independent Business Owners

A substantial percentage of U.S. adults (74%) feel deterred by the fear of business failure and a lack of operational knowledge. Notably, running an independent business can introduce significant mental strains. Findings suggest that:

- A large majority (78%) encounter more challenges than anticipated.

- Many (59%) find it difficult to disengage from work-related thoughts.

- Approximately half (51%) frequently feel overwhelmed by their responsibilities.

Additional mental health issues are prevalent among small business owners, with surveys indicating concerns about depression, stress, and anxiety affecting a significant number of entrepreneurs.
