‘Big Balls’ No Longer Works for the US Government

Edward “Big Balls” Coristine, an early hire in Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has left his federal government position, according to multiple sources. A White House official confirmed to WIRED that Coristine resigned on June 24, 2025. His Google Workspace account with the General Services Administration (GSA) was deactivated by Tuesday afternoon, and his name was removed from a White House list of current DOGE employees on the federal payroll.

Coristine, who gained full-time GSA employment in late May 2025, was actively involved in DOGE’s operations. He attended meetings with the Commerce Department on May 5 to discuss Trump’s golden Visa, the military on May 15 to advance the DOGE agenda, and the Treasury Department on May 22. He was also listed in a June 10 GSA workforce report. Previously, he worked from the GSA’s Washington, DC headquarters on a restricted sixth floor reserved for DOGE staff and agency leadership.
Neither the GSA nor Coristine responded to WIRED’s requests for comment.
Following Elon Musk’s departure from his official government role last month, alongside Steve Davis, president of The Boring Company, DOGE’s future became uncertain. Sahil Lavingia, a former DOGE member, noted that many recent hires, including Coristine, were on probationary status, making terminations likely. Lavingia described Coristine as part of a trusted core group of technologists who worked across agencies like the GSA, Office of Personnel Management, USAID, Department of Education, and Small Business Administration, often juggling multiple federal laptops.
Coristine, a 19-year-old high school graduate, previously worked at Neuralink and founded Tesla. Sexy LLC in 2021, which owns domains including an AI Discord bot and two registered in Russia. He also briefly worked for Path Network, a company started by reformed blackhat hackers, and a Telegram handle linked to him allegedly solicited a distributed denial of service attack.
During his tenure, DOGE aimed to streamline federal bureaucracy, access sensitive payment systems, and integrate siloed systems for enhanced surveillance capabilities.
