Burger King is looking to hire nearly 60,000 employees, both in entry-level roles and management, across its 6,500 restaurants.
The new team member search comes as the global franchise is still in a transitional period in modernizing its fast-food dining model and is looking to put guest satisfaction first.
According to a report from The Independent, company leaders say the hiring push reflects a steady rise in customer traffic, fueled by years of investment in restaurant renovations, operations, and marketing. Burger King’s “Reclaim the Flame” turnaround strategy has boosted sales and foot traffic in recent months, leaving many locations scrambling to bring on additional staff to meet growing demand.
New Style
“Now we need great people to help us keep that momentum going – people who are passionate, hardworking, and genuinely friendly. A warm welcome goes a long way, and the Team Members who bring that energy every day are at the heart of what makes the Burger King experience special,” said Tom Curtis, President of Burger King in the U.S. & Canada, in a press release.
Looking to rejuvenate the brand, Burger King rolled out their “Reclaim the Flame” strategy back in 2022, with its main objective being to accelerate sales growth and drive Franchisee profitability.
Burger King committed $400M into the company, split into $150M for advertising and digital upgrades, and $250M for restaurant modernization. More than 93% of U.S. franchisees have endorsed and agreed to co-invest.
Burger King has even gone as far as elevating one of their signature items, the Whopper, during this growth strategy. The new reimagined burger is still fundamentally similar to its original, but now carries more premium ingredients. The brand says changes have made customers flock to restaurants.
Brand Foward
“We’ve done the important work of strengthening our operations, modernizing our restaurants, and listening to our Guests, and it’s paying off,” said Curtis.
Nearly all Burger King restaurants in the U.S. are operated by franchisees; the hiring push will hinge largely on those independent owners taking action. According to a report by Restaurant Dive, the brand is currently running a larger share of its U.S. locations than it has in years following its 2024 acquisition of Carrols Restaurant Group.
According to Restaurant Brands International’s latest 10-K filing, the company owns 1,005 former Carrols Burger Kings, roughly 15 percent of the U.S. system. RBI has said it intends to refranchise those stores, to return its U.S. Burger King footprint to 99 percent franchised.
