Uber salaries revealed: See how much software developers and other tech workers at the ride-hailing company mak

Uber is pushing to become a “super app” — and it’s hiring talent to make that happen.

The company is best known for the millions of gig workers who drive passengers or deliver meals through Uber Eats, but it’s looking to grow far beyond that. Its ambitions include self-driving cars and personalized offers for customers. Last year, reports suggested Uber even considered buying Expedia, though the deal never materialized.

“We’re slowly moving towards a super app of sorts,” CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said.

While Uber has been more cautious with corporate hiring in recent years, it’s still recruiting. In early August, it had nearly 800 open roles posted online, with engineering, operations, and sales teams showing the most openings.

The company also continues to hire internationally. In the first half of this year, Uber filed to hire just under 500 workers through the H-1B visa program — up from about 350 in the same period in 2024. Common roles in those filings included data scientists, operations research analysts, and software developers.

H-1B filings must include base salary data (excluding equity and other perks), giving a glimpse at what Uber pays for these roles.
