Amazon Is Reportedly Going to Launch a Marketplace for AI AgentsAmazon wants to make AI agents more easily accessible. Here’s how they could help boost your productivity.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is reportedly preparing to unveil a new online marketplace dedicated to AI agents, with Anthropic as a key participating vendor. According to *TechCrunch*, AWS plans to announce the platform at its upcoming AWS Summit in New York City on July 15. The marketplace will allow startups to sell their AI agents directly through the platform and enable businesses to test and deploy these agents seamlessly within their AWS-powered applications.

An AWS spokesperson told *Inc.*, “We look forward to sharing our latest innovations with customers at AWS Summit New York next week.”

AI agents represent the next step in the evolution of AI chatbots like ChatGPT. Rather than simply answering questions or providing information, these agents can perform autonomous actions, such as browsing the web, running code, sending emails, scheduling meetings, and connecting to internal data systems. This capability makes them powerful tools for both consumer-facing services and enterprise automation.

Companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic view AI agents as a transformative force in the industry due to their potential to streamline business operations and act as intelligent digital assistants. However, building and integrating these agents into existing software platforms can be technically complex. AWS’s new marketplace aims to simplify this process, offering companies an accessible way to embed AI agents into both backend workflows and customer-facing products.

Startups using the AWS marketplace will be able to monetize their AI agents similarly to how vendors operate on Microsoft’s Azure Marketplace—selling individual solutions rather than bundling them into larger service packages like Salesforce.

For Anthropic, joining the AWS marketplace aligns well with its growing business strategy. Recent reports from *The Information* indicate that Anthropic has reached a monthly revenue of $333 million, equivalent to $4 billion annually. Unlike OpenAI, which largely relies on consumer subscriptions to ChatGPT, Anthropic generates most of its income through its API, which allows developers to integrate its Claude AI into third-party applications. As the company continues to focus on B2B opportunities, making its tools widely available to enterprise clients becomes increasingly important.

Notably, Amazon is also one of Anthropic’s biggest financial backers, having invested $8 billion in the AI startup.
