LinkedIn's founder says Gen Z graduates are 'enormously attractive' to employers for one reason

LinkedIn founder and venture capitalist Reid Hoffman believes that Gen Z graduates are especially appealing to employers because of their deep familiarity with artificial intelligence. In a recent video, Hoffman encouraged young job seekers to highlight their AI skills, describing them as "generation AI" and "AI native." He emphasized that being comfortable with AI is a significant asset in today's job market, making Gen Z candidates stand out to employers.

Hoffman acknowledged that AI is transforming the workplace and causing uncertainty, especially in entry-level roles. However, he advised students to use their unique capabilities with AI to their advantage, noting that in workplaces with more experienced employees, Gen Z’s AI expertise could be particularly valuable.

Concerns about AI leading to job losses are widespread. For example, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei recently predicted that AI could eliminate half of all entry-level office jobs within the next few years. However, not all industry leaders agree with this outlook. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and entrepreneur Mark Cuban argue that while AI will change the nature of jobs, it will also create new opportunities and roles, potentially increasing overall employment.

In summary, Hoffman’s message to Gen Z is clear: their AI skills are a powerful differentiator in the job market, and they should confidently present this expertise when seeking employment.
