I Left My Dream Job with Steve Case—Then He Backed My Startup

In 2018, I landed what I thought was my dream job working for Steve Case, the legendary AOL co-founder and investor. At Revolution, his venture capital firm, I was immersed in a world of startups, innovation, and big ideas. But after two years, I realized the role wasn’t fulfilling me. I craved building something of my own. So, I took the leap and quit.
Leaving was terrifying. I had no clear plan, just a gut feeling that I needed to create. I spent months reflecting, talking to entrepreneurs, and sketching out ideas. Eventually, I co-founded a startup focused on connecting people through shared experiences—a platform to make communities stronger. It was raw, unpolished, but mine.
Then came the surreal twist. I pitched my startup to Revolution, not expecting much. To my shock, Steve Case himself saw potential in it. He didn’t just offer advice—he invested. The man I’d once worked for was now betting on me. His belief gave us credibility and momentum, helping us raise more capital and refine our vision.
Looking back, quitting was the hardest but best decision I ever made. It taught me to trust my instincts and embrace the unknown. Steve’s investment wasn’t just financial—it was a reminder that sometimes, the boldest moves lead to the biggest breakthroughs.
