U.S. students' math scores plunge in global education assessment

In the 2022 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) exam, U.S. students showed a decrease in math scores compared to 2018, placing them below the average for OECD countries in math proficiency.

However, their scores in reading and science were above the OECD average, despite a slight drop from 2018. These results highlight the impact of the pandemic on education, with studies indicating a significant decline in academic performance among U.S. students. Looking ahead, the 2025 PISA assessment will focus on science and introduce a new foreign language test.
