ChatGPT-created resumes are dealbreakers for recruiters College seniors are interested in using ChatGPT to write resumes. HR professionals are wary.

The latest report from iCIMS reveals that new graduates are increasingly turning to generative AI, such as ChatGPT, for assistance with writing resumes and cover letters. The technology has garnered interest from 47% of college seniors, with 25% of Gen Z already having utilized it in their job search.

While generative AI can potentially help both candidates and employers be more productive and communicate better, HR professionals are cautious, with 39% stating that the use of AI tech during hiring is a dealbreaker.

As such, job seekers who choose to use generative AI should exercise caution. Writing resumes and cover letters the traditional way might still be their best bet, given the fact that AI bots can make up information and be of questionable quality if developed by unethical sources.
