Have you heard of the barter trade?
It is an act of trading goods or services between two or more parties without the use of money — or a monetary medium, such as a credit card.
A few years ago I was interested in learning how to write and publish books and podcasting. I wanted to learn all of this but had no money to attend workshops and I had no idea about free online courses when it came to stuff like this.
I was scrolling through Instagram one time when I chanced upon the post of an author here in Ghana by the name of Bernard Kelvin Clive. Now, Mr. Clive is a branding expert. He has published more than 20 plus books and he keeps publishing.
I checked his profile on Instagram and I noticed he was hosting a workshop for wannabe writers. Hey, I want to write. I reached out to him and told him about how the photos on his social media were not of high quality. I offered to cover all his workshops for free!
Why? Because then, I will be shooting in there and at the same time, I will be learning. He agreed and at his next workshop, I was present. I was exchanging my service for his.
I worked for something. I did not work for free. Should the artist work for free? No, the artist should always work for something.
Keep creating, keep working, keep exchanging value for value. You do not have to pay for everything. I’m glad you took your time to go through it. If you wish to have all the value I provide in one place or have access to my resources [podcast, blog, and books on creativity and photography], please tap on this link.
