Indeed's 2024 list of best jobs feature roles like loan officer and mental-health technician at the top. These rankings were formed by considering jobs with a minimum salary of $75,000 and at least 10% of job postings mentioning remote or hybrid work. The list also took into account the growth in job postings from January 2021 to 2024 and ranked the jobs by the number of listings per one million total postings. The demand for flexible working opportunities remains high, with a 2023 Bankrate survey showing that 64% of US working adults prefer full remote work over fully in-person work. However, the availability of high-paying, flexible jobs has decreased, as shown by a report from Ladders in January.
This report found a 69% drop in the availability of hybrid jobs paying $100,000 or more by the end of 2023, while the availability of high-paying in-person roles surged by 93%. Nonetheless, the Indeed list highlights healthcare roles, including medical director and psychiatrist, as some of the most well-compensated. Mental health jobs such as mental health therapist and psychiatric-mental-health nurse practitioner also featured prominently. Loan officer, with an average salary of almost $200,000 and 75% of job listings mentioning remote or hybrid work, stood out as one of the top jobs and doesn't require a bachelor's degree.
