A single-digit tip was enough to send an Uber Eats driver into an emotional frenzy.

In a now-viral video, Smithson Michael (who posts under the username @deliveryguy100) got emotional while talking about receiving a $1.19 tip after driving more than an hour for food delivery. Michael said he was struggling to survive driving for Uber Eats and pleaded with customers to tip more.

The video has been viewed more than 1.1 million times.

“I wish people knew what it was like to deliver for Uber Eats, Postmates, Doordash all these companies,” said a crying Michael. “I just spent an hour driving around for $1.19 tip. I mean would it hurt y’all to tip us. Throw us five dollars?”

Michael noted the delivery only scored him $2 from Uber Eats, which he said wasn’t enough to cover gas for the trip.

“How am I suppose to survive like that?” he said.

The driver said he was homeless, was four months behind on car payments, and hasn’t been able to sustain and provide for himself with the delivery job. He said he wished customers understood what it’s like to “drive for these services.”

Many who commented on Michael’s video were sympathetic to his plight.

“I always tip well but let’s be real … Corporations are to blame,” one wrote, as reported by Daily Mail.

“People deserve living wages & don’t order if you can’t tip,” another chimed.
